Turkey-Uganda Political Relations
Our Kampala Embassy in 2010 and Uganda’s Embassy in Ankara were active in 2011. Rapid progress has been made in relation to the opening of mutual embassies.
Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Jew has made an official visit to my country on 4-6 May 2010. Judaism also took place in Istanbul on May 31, He participated in the Somali Conference in Istanbul.
Mr. President of the Republic of Turkey visited the Uganda on May 31-June 1, 2016. This visit was the first visit to the Uganda by our country.
We are bilateral trade volume with Uganda. In 2016 (US $ 20.9 million in exports and US $ 10.9 million in imports). This amount reached US $ 27 million in the first 10 months of 2017 (Exports: US $ 19.2 million, imports: US $ 7.8 million).
The Second Period Meeting of the Joint Economic Commission (KEK) was held in Ankara on 17-18 September 2013. THY has flights once a day on every day of the week, including Istanbul-Kigali-Entebbe, Entebbe-Istanbul.
We have 200 citizens registered in our Embassy in Uganda.
In the period 2010-2017 a total of 198 Ugandans to Turkey Scholarships were awarded grants under the program (from 1992 until today, 253 citizens of Uganda have benefited from Government Scholarship). In 2017-18 academic year, 43 scholarships were allocated to this country, including 2 doctorate, 13 high and 28 undergraduates.
