Sydney Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey, following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Australia in 1967, was opened in 1969.
We have a Commercial Attaché and a Consulate General with Administrative and Social Affairs Attachment. Our Consulate General is acting according to the Canberra Ambassador in administrative aspect.
There is a state-based sharing of duties in terms of consular services between our Consul General and Melbourne Consul General of Australia, our country’s other consular representation in Australia, with our compatriots and aliens.
Our Consulate General’s mission includes the New South Wales and Queensland states, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory.

Our Consulship started on 12.10.1973. The Consulate General of Labour and Social Security Attachment, Trade Attaché and Administrative and Social Affairs Attaché, has been serving on behalf of our citizens at “Level 8, 24 Albert Road, South Melbourne” since 1992. We have also appointed Honorary Consuls in Perth and Adelaide to ensure that our citizens living in South Australia and Western Australia, in addition to the province of Victoria, can be served in the best possible way.
The Consulate General’s office is located in the provinces of Viktoriya, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania.

On February 28, 1967, our Embassy started the activity. Our Embassy, which also has Military Attaché and Economy Counsellor in it, serves in the ” 6 Moonah Place, ACT with the Rule” clubs newly moved in July 2006 .
Our embassy’s mission area includes all Australian and Pacific island states including Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. Apart from Melburn and Sydney Consulate General, we have an Honorary Consulate in Brisbane. We are Honorary Consulates in Solomon Islands and Marshall Islands where we are accredited.
On February 28, 1967, our Embassy started the activity. It is Baha Vefa Karatay, the first Ambassador of our country to Australia.
The Australian Government opened its Embassy in Ankara on April 23, 1968. Sir Alan McNicoll became Australia’s first ambassador to Ankara on August 25, 1968.
