Turkey – Togo Political Relations
There is no problem in Turkey-Togo relations. Relations between the two countries have been largely carried out within the framework of contacts at the margins of international conventions.
Nevertheless, recent efforts to advance bilateral relations have accelerated.
Our Embassy in Kotonu (Benin) became accredited to Togo on October 7, 2016. The Embassy of Togo in Berlin is accredited to Turkey.
Togo President Faure Gnassingbé participated in the Presidential Turn-Off Ceremony held on 28 August 2014 in our country. He also made a special visit to Istanbul on January 5-6, 2015.
Togo held in Istanbul in August 2008. First Turkey-Africa Cooperation Summit Term joined a delegation headed by Prime Minister Komlan Mally.
Bilateral meeting in the official format between Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu and Togo’s Foreign Minister Robert Dussey took place on September 22, 2017, at the 72nd General Assembly margin in New York.
Togo’s exports to Turkey 58 million USD in 2017; while our imports amounted to 12 million US Dollars. Major products we export to Togo include cereals, iron and steel, paper, cardboard, and meat and meat; Among the main products we import from Togo are cocoa and water floating vehicles. Work is underway to establish legal ground between the two countries, which will accelerate commercial and economic relations.
Our Government since 1992 by the Togolese 60 is provided scholarships to students, 2017 students in 12 Togolese Turkey was given a scholarship.
