Turkey – Rwanda Political Relations

Our embassy in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, started operation in December 2014. Rwanda’s Ankara Embassy opened in August 2013. Relations between the two countries are developing in every area and it is possible to describe our relations as perfect.

Rwanda President Kagame made a business visit to Istanbul on 21-23 March 2012 and came to Istanbul on 28-30 November 2012 to participate in an international conference.

Prime Minister Vice Prime Minister Bashir Atalay, who was on a working visit to Rwanda’s capital city Kigali on July 3, 2012, met with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The Parliament Rwanda Friendship Group was formed on 6 March 2016. In this regard, the Chairman of the Friendship Group was Uşak deputy Alim Tunç.

Our trade volume with Rwanda in 2016 is approximately 30 million US Dollars. Our exports are US $ 29.5 million, and our imports are US $ 90,000. THY has a direct flight to Rwanda (Kigali) as of May 15, 2012.

Over the past three years, it has been known that the total value of Turkish companies investing in Rwanda is over US $ 400 million. This proportion is equivalent to 13% of local or foreign investment in Rwanda during the same period. The Kigali Congress Centre, where the African Union’s summer summit was held, was built by a Turkish company.

Rwanda, Turkey scope Scholarships are allocated to higher education scholarships each year. In the 2016-2017 academic year, 17 Rwandan students were granted scholarships.
