Turkey – Panama Bilateral Relations

Our bilateral relations with Panama have gained momentum since 2014, when our mutual Embassies opened. Panama has the Consulate General in Istanbul at the same time.

Our Minister has held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Head of State Panamanian and Minister of Foreign Affairs Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado in the margin of the First Foreign Ministerial Forum of the Central American Integration System (SICA) held in Guatemala on 13 February 2015. During the interview also “Republic of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama Diplomatic Training, Information and Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding on the Exchange of Documents” was signed.

Transportation, Maritime and Communications Minister Mr Ahmet Arslan visited Panama with the opening ceremony of the Extended Panama Canal held on 26 June 2016.

Turkey-SICA II made our country hosted in Istanbul on April 20, 2017. Maria Luisa Navarro, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, for the Forum of Foreign Ministers, attended a bilateral meeting in the margin of the meeting.

A significant portion of the Turkish maritime trade fleet is registered in Panama, and Panama has significant potential in terms of our commercial relations.
