Turkey – Namibia Political Relations

Our diplomatic relations with Namibia were established on 12 November 1997. On January 4, 2012, a new turnaround was initiated with the embassy’s activity, and every area, including political, economic and development cooperation, gained momentum. Namibia does not yet have a resident embassy in our country. Namibia’s Embassy in Berlin is also accredited to my country.

In September 2014, TIKA opened the Regional Coordination Office in Windhoek, serving the South African region (Namibia, GAC, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland).

Our trade volume with Namibia is increasing every year. The trade volume between the two countries was US $ 4.4 million in 2008, US $ 41.1 million in 2016 and US $ 56.2 million in 2017. Turkey’s exports in 2017, 55.4 million US dollars, while imports were realized as 766 thousand US dollars.

Turkey Namibia to, petroleum oils, zinc ores, carbonates, cable, fibre optic cable, stone, metal extraction, sorting machines, carpets, food, clothing, pharmaceuticals, meat offal, furniture and furniture parts, fibre boards, road vehicles are exported assemblies.

Turkey Namibia, charcoal, fluorspar, electronic integrated circuits, is importing natural graphite.

There has not yet been a high-level bilateral visit between Namibia and our country at the level of the President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

Nevertheless, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries held a meeting at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul in 2016 and at the UN General Assembly meetings in New York in 2017.

The first round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries was held on 29 August 2014 at the Deputy Undersecretary in Windhoek.

Turkey scope Scholarships Since 1992, 7 Namibian been assigned scholarships to students.
