Turkey-Mali Relations

Mali between related with Turkey is at an advanced level, our relations lately Financial President, with his visit to our country of Mali Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister have been strengthened.

The first attempt was made in 1998 to develop bilateral relations with Mali. In this context, a delegation consisting of the delegation of our Ministry and the officials of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Presidency made a visit to Bamako on 26-30 September 1998.

Our Ambassador to Bamako has been active on February 1, 2010 and our Ambassador has presented a letter of confidence to the President of Mali on 5 February 2010.

Ambassador Birahim Soumare, the Political Advisor to the President of the Republic of Turkey, was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey on 6 May 2014 with the decision of the Council of Ministers. Ambassador Soumare came to Ankara on June 9th, 2014 and made his first contacts. On June 27th, he presented the letter of confidence to the President of the Republic of Turkey and officially started his duty.

Mr. President Our visit to Mali on March 2, 2018 was the first official visit of Mali to the President. During the visit, Mr. President of the Republic of Turkey was presented by the President of the Republic of Mali with the State Engagement, which is the highest engagement of Mali. During this visit, eight agreements were signed.

Many agreements have been signed between the two countries and it is anticipated that these agreements will be supplemented in the coming period.

Our country, through the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), has financial development assistance in various fields such as health, food, education, science and transportation.

Turkey recognized by Turkey within the scope Scholarships are given scholarships to 14 students from Mali during the period 2017-2018. Since 1992, 140 scholarships have been awarded.
