Turkey – Lesotho Political Relations

The Embassy of Pretoria to Lesotho and the Embassy of Rome to Lesotho are accredited to my country. A delegation headed by Prime Minister of Lesotho Bethuel Pakalitha Mosis participated in the 4th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (EAGU) held in Istanbul on May 9-13, 2011.

State Minister Kimetso Henry Mathaba attended the World Humanitarian Summit in Lesotho on 23-24 May 2016. On 27-29 May 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Mothetjoa Metsing, Industry and Trade Minister Joshua Setipa and Development Planning Minister Mokoto Hloa attended the EAGU MTR meeting in Antalya.

The trade volume between the two countries was 386 thousand US Dollars in 2016. The trade volume in 2017 was approximately 1.4 million US Dollars.

Recognized by Turkey, Bursa in Turkey within the framework of each year is allocated to higher education scholarships to Lesotho side.

TIKA’s office in Pretoria will also run projects in Lesotho.
