Turkey – Guinea Political Relations
The embassies of the two countries mutually acted at the beginning of 2013.
Mr. President’s visit to Turkey for the first time on March 3, 2016 made a historic progress with our bilateral relations and 9 agreements / memoranda of understanding were signed during the visit.
Following the visit, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Alpha Condé, attended the 13th Islamic Summit of the IIT in 14th-15th of April and made an escalation in his country during his travels to China and conducted a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey. has made an official visit. During the visit, 7 agreements / memoranda of understanding were signed.
President Condé in 2017, Turkey-Africa Agriculture Ministers held between 27-28 April 1. Conference and Agriculture Business Forum, attended in his capacity as Chairman of the African Union in the period and our Mr. President in Istanbul on April 28, 2017 has realized a bilateral meeting, subsequently 20 The D-8 Summit held in Istanbul on October and the OIC Islamic Extraordinary Summit held on 13 December 2017.
Thus, President Condé, who attended the UN 4th Least Developed Countries (EAGU) Conference in Istanbul in 2011, visited our country 6 times in 2016 and 2017, following the visit of Mr. President of Turkey to Turkey in March 2016.
Bilateral talks were held between 14 and 15 April 2016 and during the official visit of President Condé to our country during the 13th Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the 13th Islamic Summit of Foreign Ministers between the Foreign Ministers. Economic and commercial relations between Guinea and Turkey, signed in 1997, trade is conducted within the framework of Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement. The first of the Joint Economic Commissions (KEK) meetings was held in Konakri between 12-14 June 2002 and the second between 16-18 April 2013 in Ankara. The third KEK meeting is expected to be held in Konakri in 2018.
Mr. Sayin made a business visit to Konya on March 3, 2016, and a business forum was organized by DEIK in Konakri and the Turkish-Guinea Business Council was established. The second of the business forum was held in Istanbul on the occasion of the official visit of President Condé to the country between 26-30 December 2016.
Likewise, Turkey Exporters Assembly (TIM) Businessmen Delegation on the occasion of the visit of Guinea held between 27-30 March 2017, a business forum was organized in Conakry.
Turkish businessmen mostly operate in construction and service sectors in Guinea. After Mr. President’s visit on 3 March 2016, businessmen’s interest in infrastructure, transport, energy and mining sectors in Guinea has increased. The trade volume between Turkey and Guinea in 2017 reached US $ 101.8 million. Of this figure, 86.2 million dollars were exported to Guinea and 15.6 million dollars were imported from Guinea.
Since 30 January 2017, Turkish Airlines has been operating Istanbul-Konakri flights with 2 flights a week. Apparent flights have made a significant contribution to the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. With the opening of the TIKA Coordination Office in Guinea in June 2016, humanitarian aid for our country to Guinea and cooperation in development between the two countries have increased significantly.
Our country is in development assistance in various fields through the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA). Guinea citizens of our country within the scope of Turkey Scholarships were awarded scholarships by 171 units of higher education since 1992. 20 Guinean students for 2017-2018 education year have benefited from this scholarship.
