Turkey – Cambodia Relations
Our diplomatic relations with Cambodia were established in 1970. Since the mid-1970s, as a result of domestic political developments in Cambodia, political, economic and other areas of relations have remained limited until recently due to the breakdown of the country from the international mosque, the geographical distance between the two countries and the differences in our foreign policy priorities.
The official opening of our Punom Pen Embassy, which took place on November 1, 2013, was held on March 15, 2015, with official visit to Cambodia by Minister and then Prime Minister of Cambodia and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong. Cambodia, which is not an accredited diplomatic representative to our country or country, has Honorary Consulate in Istanbul and Ankara.
Cambodia in 2015, the National Assembly and Senate separately within the Cambodia-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group has been established. March 6, 2016 in Parliament in the history of Turkey-parliamentary friendship group has been set up in Cambodia.
We have about 200 citizens residing in Cambodia. In our country, 11 Cambodian citizens reside.
“Turkey Scholarships” within the scope of Cambodian students in the academic year 2015-2016 were awarded grants to 10. Since 1992, a total of 48 Cambodian students have benefited from our Government scholarships.
