Turkey – Bhutan Political Relations

Diplomatic relations between our countries have been established with the Joint Declaration signed by the Minister of State Responsible from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and our minister during the United Nations General Assembly on September 26, Our New Delhi Embassy is accredited to Bhutan.

In 2009, $ 100,000 worth of financial assistance to Bhutan by the Government due to the flood disaster in the eastern part of the country was met with gratitude from the Government of Bhutan and its people.

The Minister of Finance of Burma participated in the 4th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (EAGU) held in Istanbul on 9-13 May 2011 in the presence of our country, representing the Kingdom of Bhutan. The visit of the Minister of Construction, Yeshey Zimba, to Turkey on 6-10 February 2012 constitutes the first high official visit between the two countries.

Bhutan Foreign Minister Lyonpo Damcho Dorji attended the World Humanitarian Summit held on 23-24 May 2016 in Istanbul and the Senior Intermediate Review on the Istanbul Action Program held in Antalya on 27-29 May 2016.
