Diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Belgium and the Ottoman Empire were established in 1838. Belgium’s King Philippe, when he was Crown Prince, along with a trade delegation visited Turkey on 15-19 October 2012.
The visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus to Belgium by the President of the Republic of Belgium Philippe, on the occasion of the invitation of Belgium on 4-6 October 2015, has been a province since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The President of the Republic, Mr Philippe, Prime Minister Charles Michel, Senate President Christine Defraigne and President of the House of Representatives Siegfried Bracke.
Turkey and Belgium in the fight against terrorism in the context of plant is the Triple Ministerial Meeting of the (Foreign Affairs of the two countries, with the participation of Interior and Justice Ministers) first 2008 in October in Istanbul, the second in Brussels on 22 January 2013, and was held in Ankara the third one on March 9, 2016. At the meeting, the fight against terrorism, judicial and police cooperation, consular issues and regional and international issues were discussed.

Our bilateral trade volume with Belgium amounting to 5 billion 750 million Dollars (exports: 2 billion 549 million Dollars, imports: 3 billion 201 million Dollars) in 2016 increased by 0.7% compared to the previous year. In the first two months of 2017, our bilateral trade volume was 957 million Dollars (exports: 450 million Dollars, imports: 507 million Dollars).
The main products exported to Belgium are motor vehicles and equipment, textile products, machinery and equipment, and plastics. The main products we import from Belgium are Chemicals and related industrial products, plastics, basic metals, machinery and equipment.
In 2002-2016 period, the total amount of investments made by Belgium to my country was 8 billion 209 million dollars. During the same period, the amount of direct investments made by our country to Belgium amounted to 312 million Dollars. As of the end of 2016, 595 Belgian firms are operating in our country.
In 2016, approximately 415 thousand (413,614) Belgian tourists visited our country.
