Turkey – Political Relations with Algeria
Algeria and our country have deep-rooted friendship and fraternal relations arising from the common historical past. These relations have made great strides during the visit of President Abdelaziz Buteflika to my country in 2005 and the Presidential visit of Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Prime Minister of the Republic of Algeria in 2006. Significant mutual high-level visits have increased, and significant jumps have been recorded in economic and commercial relations.
The “Friendship and Cooperation Agreement” signed during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey to Algeria on May 22-23, 2006 constituted a milestone.
Positive course in our bilateral relations is supported by mutual high-level visits. This act, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited Algeria last 19-20 November 2014. Mr. President addressed the Algerian National People’s Assembly during his visit.
During the visit of the President of the Republic of Algeria, the President of the Republic of Algeria expressed the desire for the restoration of a part of the houses of the capital town of Algeria in the country, and the work of our companies was initiated within this proposal. Thus, after the restoration of the Gochuova Mosque, our country has undertaken another important project in Algeria. Restoration projects are carried out by the private sector through TIKA.
Since Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha is the 500th anniversary of the development of the capital Algeria, various activities are organized in our Embassy throughout 2016.
In the recent period, there has been an increase in high level contacts and visits between the two countries. In this context;
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan made a bilateral meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal in the march of Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington between 31 March and 1 April 2016.
A delegation of Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Ramtane Lamamra, headed by the President of the Millet Council (Senate) Abdelkader Bensalah, representing the President Buteflika at the 13th Islamic Summit of the Islamic Cooperation Organization organized in Istanbul on 10-15 April 2016 in Istanbul She participated.
On 23-24 May 2016, Mounia Meslem Si Ameur, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women of Algeria, participated in the World Humanitarian Summit held in Istanbul when our country was hosted.
Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa, Chairman of the National People’s Assembly of Algeria, and National Solidarity, Family (President) of the Algerian National People’s Assembly of Higher-Level Comprehensive Interim Review Meeting of the Istanbul Action Program for the Least Developed Countries (EAGU) held in Antalya on 27-29 May 2016, hosted by our country and Minister of Women’s Status Mounia Meslem Si Ameur.
Our minister met with Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Algeria, on May 27, 2015 in Kuwait, at the margins of the 42nd meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
